Paris Regional Health Internal Medicine Residency Program Recognizes North Lamar HOSA with $500 Award

June 22, 2026
Paris Regional Health recently presented a $500 check to North Lamar High School's HOSA chapter after the students earned first place in this year's healthcare project competition hosted by the Paris Regional Health Internal Medicine Residency Program.
The annual program brings HOSA students from Lamar County to explore healthcare topics, learn from resident physicians, and develop solutions to real-world healthcare challenges. This year's project focused on increasing awareness of low-dose CT lung cancer screening and its role in early detection.

North Lamar HOSA's first-place finish marks the second consecutive year they have participated in the program and earned top honors.

As the winning team, North Lamar HOSA received a $500 award to support its ongoing activities and future opportunities for students interested in healthcare careers.

"One of the goals of our residency program is to encourage and inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals," said Dr. Saji Pillai, Program Director of the Paris Regional Health Internal Medicine Residency Program. "Students from schools across Lamar County submitted outstanding projects this year. Their creativity, thoughtfulness, and enthusiasm for healthcare made selecting a winner a difficult task, and we are grateful to all of the students and their sponsors who participated."

The program is one of several initiatives through which Paris Regional Health and its Internal Medicine Residency Program engage local students, promote healthcare education and help develop the future healthcare workforce.
