Cardiac Rehabilitation
Taking Your Recovery to Heart
Cardiac rehabilitation is an outpatient program that focuses on improving your cardiovascular health. If you have been diagnosed with coronary artery disease or experienced a heart attack, angioplasty or open heart surgery, you may be a candidate for cardiac rehabilitation.
We tailor your rehab program to meet your individual needs, combining supervised exercise training with dietary and health education in a supportive environment. Cardiac rehab could help you strengthen your heart and reduce your risk of further heart problems so that you may return to your active lifestyle.
You do not have to go through cardiac rehab at the same hospital where you received cardiac services. If a patient receives cardiac treatment elsewhere, we can still provide the follow-up care here at our facility. Contact our Physician Referral Line at 903.737.3232 today for assistance in the next steps of your cardiac care.
Those who qualify for rehab include patients with the following:
- Recent heart attack
- Coronary bypass surgery (CABG)
- Valve surgery
- Heart transplant
- Balloon angioplasty
- Coronary stent
- Stable angina
- Stable chronic heart failure
The outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program typically lasts 8 to 12 weeks, depending on your progress and needs.
Exercise includes:
- Treadmill walking
- Recumbent stepper
- Stationary bicycling
- Arm ergometer
- Hand weights
The outpatient cardiac rehab program is three days a week for cardiac conditioning. The monitored physical exercise sessions are tailored to your personal interest and abilities.
